It\u2019s easy to get caught up in the manic rush of Christmas at work, planning for time off work and the all important Christmas do! As a company collective, though, there are ways you can celebrate the festive season and do something to give back to those in need and help your local community.<\/p>\n

1. Organise a Charity Christmas Lunch<\/h2>\n

Celebrate the festivities by organising a pre-Christmas lunch for your coworkers. If you work in a large office you can arrange an intimate department gathering. Charge a small nominal \u2018fee\u2019 in exchange for compulsory party hats and decorations and have a whip round to collect donations for a worthy cause. If the wine is flowing you could even send the collection box round one more time for good measure!<\/p>\n

2. Choose Charity Christmas Cards<\/h2>\n

3. Have A Monthly Charity Day<\/h2>\n

Monthly charity days and events are hugely popular in schools so why not organise a regular charity fundraising day in the workplace? For December ask coworkers to get involved with Save the Children\u2019s Xmas Jumper Day<\/a>. Wear a festive jumper to work, donate and spread the joy!<\/p>\n

4. Be a Generous Santa<\/h2>\n

Many companies have a Secret Santa gift buying tradition that involves anonymously buying one agreed price gift for a coworker. This year give generously by purchasing an additional gift and donating it to a local charity, for those who are less fortunate. Remember to wrap up and label your anonymous gift according to gender and age group so the charity can determine which lucky person to gift it to. Some people receive no gifts at all at Christmas, so your small gift could make their year!<\/p>\n

5. Give Your Time<\/h2>\n

Keep the spirit of giving going throughout the year by taking on a team building initiative. Volunteering within the local community helps you see the difference your donations and efforts make to the lives of others. As volunteering groups you can prepare food for the homeless or visit elderly or vulnerable people who are isolated. Set a team challenge and allocate one work day morning or afternoon per month to give your time where it is most needed.<\/p>\n
